I pretend to sleep
As you shift closer,
The sheets wrinkle,
The bed dips slightly
Under you.
I try not to smile
As I feel your breath
Tickling the nape
Of my neck. I only stir
Ever so slightly when
You pull my body
against you.
You pull me near,
And closer still until
Our breaths mingle.
My lips brush against
Yours, touching
briefly.
I pull away and
I open my eyes,
Only to find
The space you fill
Empty.
